Rigel General Description

The hotel, built in the 1960s, is situated on one of the most important islands of Venice. Its importance and uniqueness are due to the fact that it is the only hotel facing the Adriatic Sea on one side and on the other the basin of St. Mark's, just before the historic Square of St. Mark's, the centre of the ancient Republic of Venice. Another characteristic that makes it unique, compared with all other islands of the lagoon, is the possibility of reaching it by car, avoiding problems and costs of car parking either in Mestre (mainland) or at the Tronchetto (car park).

Rigel Room Description

The hotel has 42 rooms on 3 floors connected by lift. Nearly all rooms have classical-style furnishings and are luminous, some with a small balcony and all with a bathroom, shower, air conditioning and a telephone with direct outside line, as well as a satellite TV and wireless Internet access.

Rigel Meals Description

The hotel serves a buffet breakfast in the breakfast room on the ground floor. The restaurant is only open for organised groups. The hotel bar is open 24 hours a day.

The hotel, located at Via Enrico Dandolo 13 on the lido, is situated only 5 minutes from the public boat services, which run every 10 minutes during the day and every half hour during the night, a 12 to 15 minute-ride connecting the lido with St. Mark's.

Arriving by train: from St. Lucia Statio, choose from the following: either the public boat, line 51 or 61, disembarking at the lido, St. Maria Elisabetta, or a private water taxi that is much quicker but also more expensive. During the summer period (June-August) one can also reach the Lido taking the tourist boat line 2. Arriving by car/coach: follow the signs ?Venezia-Lido, imbarco Ferry Boat' situated at the end of the long bridge connecting Venice to the mainland, the public ferry boat line is no. 17. Cars can also be left in one of the car parks at Piazzale Roma or on the Tronchetto island. If opting for the former, take boat 51 or 61; for the latter, get to Piazzale Roma taking one of the shuttle buses. In both cases, get off at the Lido stop, Piazzale St. Maria Elisabetta. Arriving by plane: from Marco Polo Airport there are 2 options via water: the public boat ?Alilaguna' or the water taxi, which is certainly quicker but also more expensive.
